Close up of my new sandals :D

Wooo I’m posting again! I’m ACTUALLY posting something that isn’t a month or more after my previous update! Yay me :D

So these are my new sandals! I’m quite in love with them. They’re elastic so you can just slip them on and they’re quite comfy now that i’ve broken them in. Except today when I walked down a major steep-ish road/hill to get to Julie’s house and now the bottoms of my feet are in pain ):

Last Friday, we had a public holiday in Hong Kong so me and my bf took full advantage of our free time. We started out with lunch at a cute (albeit trés cher) restaurant around his apartment called La Baguette. We then ventured out to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens. The parks and “zoos” that we have in Hong Kong are nothing like in America. They’re really small, nothing too advance/special and the animals all seem pretty moody most of the time. Well we loved it anyways since we got to see tons of monkeys and 3 huge orangutans. We were super excited to head to the Reptile House and were extremely disappointed when the “House” was literally smaller than a NY subway car and only had 2 mini alligators and 1 big fat boa constrictor ): After the Garden, we headed back down to civilization with a quick stop at H&M to check out some pieces for my “clients” then finally taking in an Early Bird Special (hehe) dinner at MisoCool. I think this was the first perfect day that we spent together in a while <3

God i’m so hungry right now.

Oh! Random! I was looking through a cosmetics store (SASAAA) and spotted these glittery nail polishes and it reminded me of some galaxy nail art I saw ages ago. I forgot to save the picture and I can’t remember the site I saw it on so I just kinda freestyled my own version :D This was my first time doing something fancy on my nails (well not since back when I was like 10 or 12 when I would polka dot, checkerboard or 50/50 my nails all the time) but basically all I did was use a slightly-metallic dark blue/grey base and once dry, I then used one glitter-y nail polish to paint just the half-moon side of my nails. After that part dried, I took another “looser” glitter-y one and dried the brush a bit on a piece of paper then sort of created a gradient effect towards the end of my nails.

What do you guys think? Don’t mind my disgusting cuticles (yes i bite sometimes…or use my x-acto when I’m at work haha)

Oh! another thing: here’s a close-up of those Chanel bracelets I’m wearing. They’re, of course, from my mom. She said they originally came in a group of 4 but her and one of her good friends decided to split them. Aren’t they cute? So simple and classic. She bought them about 15-18 years ago I think. Seriously, my mom has so many hidden treasures I’ve never seen before. After living with her for 24 years, last week was the first time I ever saw them! Pretty much every single bracelet I ever wear is either from my mom’s collection, or something that I made.

It’s now 2:45am, better get some rest for my achy feet for an exciting day of cycling tomorrow!

Excuse the extremely shitty photos. I took them on Tuesday after going to a screening of “An Education” (thanks Butterboom!) The movie was amazing of course, but more on that in another post. If you follow me on twitter, you’ll have read that one of my biggest fears is being mistaken as a boy. I know, I know, kinda ridonkulous but seriously, it’s just another one of the crazy things I think about. This outfit had me all conscious all day. Originally I wore it with my all black vans authentics but I felt that I had to “girl” it up a bit so I threw on my PedderRed buckle wedges later on in the evening. Thank god no one said “Excuse me sir” to me or else I really would’ve died. I’m kinda stupid aren’t i? I’m pretty sure my belly-button-grazing hair is an obvious enough sign that I’m not a boy. okay nvm it’s late and I’m blabbing.

Wow okay sooooooooooo this majorly-overdue post is going to be another extremely long and random update: full of random crap mostly hahaha. Anyhow, I haven’t blogged in ages and it’s honestly cos I’ve been really busy and I’ve been tired NON-STOP for almost 3 weeks now. Work was a little nuts and I had to work all weekend too so luckily it’s the end of the week soon and things are starting to slow down. I don’t plan on waking up anytime before 12pm this Saturday. I haven’t slept in for more than 2 weeks now and it’s seriously starting to show everywhere on my body, especially in the regions of my panda-eye-suitcases.

New Things:
I’ve recently (meaning like within the last 2 months, since I haven’t updated in ages) picked up a bunch of new things that I haven’t been able to post about yet. Also just today I had an unplanned visit to H&M. I hadn’t been inside an H&M in ages and the mega huge “FINAL SALE” banners on the window were just calling me in. I ended up walking out with 2 things that I haven’t been able to photograph yet but I guess you’ll see them soon enough!

This is a bunch of underwear stuff I was trying on at H&M before the New Year. I ended up getting the Sonia Rykiel for H&M garter thingies which I wore on New Years Eve. I just realised I don’t have a proper outfit shot of what I wore but lemme list it out and you can just sit there and imagine it: H&M polka dot tights, OTK socks, Sonia Rykiel for H&M garters, AA tshirt dress, Zara leather jacket, Ash wedges and a vintage Chanel purse. Looks great in your imagination doesnt it? Yeah it was actually really boring in real life -.-

Got this very cheap but cute little jersey crewneck from CottonOn. It has these cute pleat details on the shoulders and it’s ever so slightly cropped.

I have been looking EVERYWHERE for a leather jacket like this for aaaaaaaaaaaages! I finally found it on Granville Road. You guys will NEVER guess how much I paid for it. $150hkd/$19usd. SO CHEAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean of course the leather is fake and the white fluffy parts are faker than a stuffed animal but regardless it’s still soooooooooo soft and doesn’t look cheap when you wear it. I guess this cheap alternative will have to do until the day I can afford to purchase my dream Acne leather jacket.

A couple of weeks back I was lucky enough to be gifted the amazing Plattan headphones by UrbanEars from Street Value in Hong Kong. I am seriously in love with these headphones. Prior to these, I’d been using the WeSC Bongo headphones in hot pink and before those was the first edition Bongo’s in yellow. Some great features of the Plattan are the fabric covered cord, the extra headphone jack so your buddy can plug in to your headphones and listen to what you’re listening to! It’s also really handy that it has a built-in microphone and remote (second picture) compatible with iPhone, Blackberry, HTC and Nokia so you don’t have to take your headphones off when you get a phone call! What I love most about them is that they’re so minimalistic and well-designed. The website is amazing too and I seirously died when I received them, the packaging is amazing. TheDIeLine did an awesome feature on their packaging here.

P.S. On a totally different note: How disgusting does my hair look? I mean, I totally understand that the whole gradient/ombre dyed hair look is “in” now but I dunno, Asians with dyed hair are always having this gross roots-growing-out problem. My mom hates it and really wants me to do something to my hair but I just don’t know what!??! I don’t think i can do the short hair thing..i’ve thought about it ALOT lately but with my bodysize and glasses, I don’t think I can pull it off although my face is really sharp. Another problem is that I don’t think I should be dying my hair anymore..it’s completely damaged already so I don’t wanna further drag it into hairy-hell. My mom wants me to cut it..or at least trim it, which of course I do still but after having such supah long hair for so long now, I don’t think I can. *NOTE: wrote this paragraph ages ago and have since changed my hair. You’ll see in my next update ;)*

So after waiting to see it for almost a year, I finally got to see New York, I love you. I was sooo excited to see this and everytime the preview came on tv, my heart missed a beat and I get a little choked up. You can kinda say I guess I miss New York a lot. So after being out for about a week in HK, me and PB had date night and FINALLY went to see it. I was soooo expecting myself to cry..or at least get a little teary…but not a drop was shed. It’s safe to say that the movie did NOTHING for New York. I mean it barely showcased New York-y things..except for like getting into cabs….or like…smoking on street corners, which is basically stuff you could do everywhere. Pretty much anything in that movie could’ve taken place in a different city. My favourite segment was the one with Anton Yelchin (hellooooooo nurse!) and maybe the bit directed by Natalie Portman, with the father and daughter. Oh actually the Robin Wright Penn one was pretty good too..but other than that..nothing special, a serious let down ):

A couple weeks back I got an email from the lovely Dawn about her new book “101 Glam Girl Ways to an Ultra Chic Lifestyle”. The book is easy to read with a helpful tip on each page accompanied by a pretty illustration. I’ve picked out just a couple of my favourite pages to share with you guys:

There’s tons more to the book and it’s a really helpful guide for fashionistas (lol hate that word but hey! why not right?) and is currently available at a couple of bookstores in America as well as online at Amazon ($15us).

Currently, it’s stocked with just 4 items but as you’ll read on the page, I’m not planning on opening one of those infamous blog-shops, just trying to get rid of stuff that I no longer want/need/fit ): I don’t plan on updating it often as I don’t really have anything else worthy of selling/that I want to sell. Anyway, please check it out regardless and perhaps you can do me a tiddly leedle favour and tell your friends too! You’ll also notice that I’ve put up a little mini-banner on my sidebar there <<<<<<<<< so feel free to click anytime :D

WOW it’s been a while again huh? I seriously open every post with the same “omg its been so long” sentence. On my previous post I asked whether people preferred these sort of long major zomg-too-many-things-to-look-at posts or if they preferred shorter more succinct updates. I got a pretty much 50/50 sort of response and tbh, I WISH I could update more often..it’s just that I don’t cos i either don’t have anything update-worthy or..I forget..or..I have more important things to do..like eat and sleep :D Oh another thing that people mentioned was that they preferred shorter updates because there would be less photos meaning less loading times and therefore more time to read (LOL yeah sure) but honestly, I love my big giant pictures (which honestly isn’t that large) and isn’t it better to see nice large clear photographs rather than dingy small ones where you can barely see any detail? If the photos are taking too long to load then I really don’t know what to do other than to beg you to please step up your broadband/internet game please. It’s almost 2010 people, come on now.

Anyway, the above outfit was worn literally like a million years ago. The weather in HK is pretty on/off. Like the other day on Christmas Day, I wore a pair of SHORTS with NO TIGHTS out the whole day. Yeah it was THAT hot..but then out of no where, this morning it drops to like 10 degrees Celsius (approx. 50 degrees Fahrenheit) WTF right? I had to pull out my huge woolly eskimo jacket this morning which was warm when I was outside but the seCOND i stepped into the train station and on to the train..it got SO stuffy and HOT in there that I started getting cranky.

Last week one of my longest friend (known her for like what 16 years or so already) came back home for a couple of days so we did the usual get togethers, which mostly consisted of gossiping, laughing (TIM? TIM? TIM? TIN KIN?) and most of all, EATING.

Our feast at the Korean barbecue restaurant we always go to. SUPER YUMMY short rib. KALBIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII

And my favourite: Ox Tail soup :D You cringe now but I bet the second I steal that bone and cast it in iron or silver or whatever, everyone and their mother would be all over it huh.

Onto Christmas now. My family definitely celebrates christmas but we don’t go all out with decorations and all that hooplah. This year was also the first year we didn’t get a tree. Nanz was kinda upset about it but the more I think about it, I think it’s good that we didn’t get a tree as we normally only have it up for about a week or two then just end up throwing the poor thing away. Anyhow, every year for the past couple of years already, my family hosts an xmas bbq on our rooftop for family and friends. It’s normally really fun with always too much food. I think the only person who enjoys it the most is Obi cos he gets to mosey around on the rooftop snooping his nose in everyone’s business.

Wow the fire was definitely not purple.

On Boxing Day (December 26th for you Americans), we attended one of our best-family-friend’s daughter’s wedding. It was really nice and she looked really really pretty.

Here’s a shot of all us kids: My brother Eugene, my brother-in-law Gavin, my older sister Jeanette, Uncle Chiu (bride’s father), Nanz and lastly me. Lol isn’t Uncle Chiu SO cute in his bowtie hahaha he was like non-stop smiling all morning.

After the wedding, I went back to PB’s place to start our very own celebration. Here’s PB opening up part 1 of his presents (4 parts total). I didn’t get a full pic of everything we got each other but basically he got me tons of CUTE stuff and I got him tons of AWESOME stuff, lol so descriptive.

This was one of my presents. It’s a golden pig hahahaha. He got me everything piggie basically..heahea yay :D

This was part 4 of his presents. I bought and framed two of the WTWTA posters. We actually haven’t seen the movie yet, and I’ve kinda heard mixed reviews about it but regardless, those posters look so amazing and I seriously loved the typography.

We then strolled around Causeway before our epic Christmas Dinner Date (CDD) at……dun dun dun……………CPK! LOL. We love that place and you don’t need to eat at a fancy place to have a super PB date.
Anyway, I had seen these before but yeah I spotted these Chloe-inspired wedges and had to snap a pic for you guys. I gotta admit, us Chinese really do know how to whip up some really awesome “inspired-by” items. They’re not exactly the same as the Chloe wedges and they are definitely a tiny smidgen of the Chloe price but somehow, i still can’t manage to bring myself to buy them. But okay..that’s a total lie cos I’ve been scouring these Causway malls for those Rodarte inspired OTK boots that I posted about previously. I mean I can easily find them everywhere but I’m just looking for the place that sells them the cheapest lol. I don’t exactly wanna be dropping a couple of hundys for an imitation item now do I?

Remember that exciting package that I was twittering constantly about its slow arrival? Well anyway it arrived a couple of weeks ago and in it was my amazing Jeffrey Campbell Clinics from Solestruck! I was so anxious to get these when I first saw the preview on the Oaknyc site. The silver reflective wedge is SO amazing and the height along with the platform makes them SO comfortable to wear. The ONLY problem I had with them was that the shaft of the shoe goes up to an awkward height on me that the zipper in the back behind the ankle KEPT on rubbing against my skin and I ended up with a humungo raw patch behind my ankles. um, gross. I plan on sticking some paddies on there for the next time I wear them, then other than that, I should be good to go! I wore them out that night I got them with a pair of H&M tapered/gathered-at-the-ankles sweatpants that I actually got a million years ago and hadn’t had the guts to wear them out yet (they’re just sweatpants right -.-) and a sequined Zara motorcycle jacket. I thought the outfit wasn’t bad but I always fail to photograph my “clubbing/going-out” outfits cos I’m always running late and never have time to snap some pic pics!

PB also ordered a pair of shoes *tut tut PB*. He finally got his all black suede Clark Desert boots that he’d been wanting for ages.

oh?

So just cos this post is so overdue, here’s another outfit to fill this post up even more (and make all those slow internet people mad). I wore this the other day on our little family Sunday. My family spends every Sunday together, which may seem like a pain in the butt, but honestly I love it. I love that although my family is a bit messed up, we still always get together on Sundays and spend at least one meal together.

OH yeah and back when I did that “whats in my bag” thing, someone asked me why do I carry around contacts when I don’t even wear them. Well i DO wear contacts, but mostly only when I go out partying or when I want to wear sunglasses, since it costs a fortune to change all my sunny lens’ into prescriptive lens and really it’s SUPER annoying to always have to switch. I really wish I could wear contacts again everyday but…my eye doctor says I really shouldn’t ): My sunglasses collection gone down the drain..or..hovering there for a while until I can afford lasik.

Lastly, the lovely people over at Blue is in Fashion this Year did a little didly thing about safety pins and decided to include my necklace in there. They do these mega collages of a certain item (like safety pins, or gold dresses etc) and scour blogs for all the images.
